Cake for Breakfast

12th August, 11-4pm Live music at St Martins Walk

‘Cake for Breakfast’ are an experienced jazz quartet of Dorking, Bookham and Brockham musicians, with an extensive repertoire of classic and modern numbers, who take their music, but not themselves, seriously.

Equally at home with American Standards as they are with lounge jazz, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s numbers and more recent jazz interpretations of classics, they always put together diverse, interesting and entertaining sets that are guaranteed to have something to suit all tastes.

As regulars in and around Dorking and Brockham, they have played The Old House, Westival, the Windsor Castle (Bookham), a number of private events and have been regulars at The Grape Variety, Surrey Artists Open Studios, and The Dorking Artisan Market.

Cake for Breakfast are:

Sharon Black (Keyboards and vocals) - a jazz-loving pianist and singer and a former regular with the Surrey Jazz Orchestra, whose dreams have become reality since teaming up with 3 kindred spirits to make ‘Cake for Breakfast’

David Ward (Guitars) - Currently teaching Music and Production at a local school, as well as a regular playing jazz in big bands and combos. Trained at the BBC and Jazz School UK and is house engineer at the Watermill Jazz Club

Richard Nash (Drums and percussion) - Has lived in Dorking all his 65 years.  Took up playing drums at 14 and has annoyed everyone since

Michael Coughlin (Bass) - a seasoned enthusiast of most styles of music and the place of bass in them, with Cake for Breakfast the latest in a lifetime of various, hugely enjoyable band endeavours.
