WH Week One

What's more: anyone who dines with the White Horse during their first week will receive a complimentary glass of welcome fizz and be in with a chance to be entered into a free prize draw to win an overnight stay! Tables are quickly getting booked up so don’t delay…

Taking centre stage in our bustling high street and in the heart of our beautiful Surrey Hills Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The White Horse is a characteristic 13th Century inn that has held a special place in the local community for many years. A stone’s throw from the artisanal West Street, award winning museum and heritage centre, this popular pub with rooms is perfectly located to explore the highly acclaimed Denbies Wine Estate, breathtaking Box Hill and the unique independent businesses and antique shops that Dorking has to offer.

The White Horse has undergone an extensive refurbishment to lovingly renovate the bar, dining area and 56 beautiful bedrooms as it becomes part of the award-winning Heartwood Inns.

With three train stations within walking distance and only an hour from London and the coast, there is ample parking around town within walking distance from the pub, where The White Horse guarantees that real home from home experience.

Why not come and see for yourself? Dorking looks forward to welcoming you soon.

What's a guild talk?

We are hosting Dorking BID Guild talks in the hope that we will bring together our wonderful Dorking BID artisans and merchants who oversee the practice of their craft or trade together and share their knowledge with each other. The earliest types of guilds formed as organisations of tradespeople belonging to a professional association. We would like to continue this tradition and share knowledge, friendship and events to highlight all the wonderful goodness Dorking has to offer. Each of our speakers has been selected to align to an issue or event the Dorking BID or high street is facing: community policing, Surrey Day, and BIG GREEN WEEK.

We meet at Ralph James Estate Agents on West Street (44 West St, Dorking RH4 1BU) - all BID Members are welcome! Register your interest with info@dorkingtownpartnership.co.uk.

Each meeting begins with a welcome, talk with our speakers, Q&A, networking opportunity, and refreshments. We can't wait to welcome you.

Christmas Festival

We are saying goodbye to new year's resolutions and hello to what's in and out for rejuvenating our high street! And we want to hear from you! What's your 'What's In / What's Out' list for 2024? We have developed our tactical plans for the Dorking Business Improvement District to help us deliver our business strategy and we welcome your feedback on how we can collaborate to bring prosperity to our business community and to our town. So What's In and What's Out this year?

What's In

Focusing on excellent customer service.

Exciting and engaging in-store experiences.

Using AI to gain a competitive advantage.

Commercialising pre-loved and valuing sustainability and circularity.

Omni channel communications is key.

Collaboration and partnering with others across sectors to bring mutual success.

What's Out

Thinking your customer won't find what they want online.

Using AI or ChatGBT without editing content.

Not using social media or having a website.

Going at it alone.

What are your Ins/Outs for 2024?

We are launching our social, training and events calendar for the year very soon and we are finalising event dates for your diary. Save the date for our 2024 Christmas Festival, which will be held on the first Sunday of December every year (this year it is 1 December). We are working collaboratively with our BID businesses and community partners to finalise our training and events programme in the coming weeks and we plan to host on-street trails every other month this year. We hope you will join in!

In the meantime, please have your say, tell us what training you'd like us to offer, join a committee, or drop us a line - and let us know what you'd like to see us offer and help us to shape our plans.

Want to influence the future of our high street?

Join one of our Dorking BID Committees and help us make a difference for our businesses, our community and for each other. We have created four committees, led by businesses and composed of fellow BID businesses, residents, and community organisations. When we collaborate and work together, we create a better and brighter future for Dorking.

Marketing and PR

We are actively working on our events, digital, PR and marketing efforts to drive footfall to our high street. This committee touches on all of these activities.

Sustainability and Safety

This committee will focus on town beautification, policing and sustainability plans. Join this team to help us look forward and position Dorking as a safe, clean and sustainable heart of the Surrey Hills.

Tourism

This committee informs our visitor, retail and night time economy.

Placemaking

This committee looks after infrastructure, traffic, parking, and banking issues. We are actively working on 'Future Dorking' with our community partners to address parking, traffic management and to future proof Dorking.

Express your interest by emailing us at info@dorkingtownpartnership.co.uk or by completing this form.
