Location 5 - Old Kings Court

Question: What is the purpose of a cricket's chirping sound?

Answer: Male crickets chirp to attract females, and the frequency can indicate temperature.

Welcome to Old Kings Courtyard, once the yard of a 16th century inn, The Lower Chequer, which changed its name to the Kings Head to mark the restoration of King Charles II and the Stuart monarchy in 1660. In the 18th century it became a coaching inn and is said to have been the inspiration for the Marquis of Granby in Charles Dickens’ The Pickwick Papers. As you can see it is now home to The John Arthur Gallery, The Fig Tree, Anni and Arthur's Boutique, Dorking Solarium, The Courtyard Skincare and Harts Cafe, the perfect spot to shop, pamper and stop for a delicious lunch!

Next location: On the High Street outside That Lovely Shop
