Getting to Dorking on Foot

The centre of town is an easy walk from any of our three stations: Dorking Station, Deepdeene Station or Dorking West.

Dorking is a five minute stroll from Dorking Main Station and Dorking Deepdene Station.

Dorking is an easy walk from Dorking West Station.

Dorking is situated in the Surrey Hills on the North Downs, which means an abundance of nature and stunning views from every vantagepoint. Whether you are a walker, rambler or runner, there are countless variations of route to be had – or even devise your own!

The below routes are tried, tested and ready for you to explore.

Walking trails

The Box Stepping Stones walk is a perfect summers day walk, and although it’s only two miles the steep ascents and descents mean you need a bit of endurance. Along the way look out for dragonflies, wagtails and kingfishers.

Walk the chalk trail is a 7-mile trail from Dorking Train station to Gomshall station, taking you through some of the finest chalk grassland in Surrey – a stunning wildlife walk.

North Downs Way – Westhumble to Merstham is a 10-mile trail which is part of the North Downs Way route. Cross the stepping stones of the river Mole, climb Box Hill, and walk down the Pilgrims Way. Be part of history as you walk.

Ranmore Circular is a 6 mile walk from Box Hill, that takes you through the Polesden Lacey estate, Ranmore Common and finally Denbies Vineyard. A great local attraction walk.

The Deepdene Trail is a brand-new trail just 15 minute’s stroll from Dorking’s town centre, and you can pick from one, two or nine miles routes. Take in the gardens, the terrace, Hope’s mausoleum or castle ruins, and learn about the Deepdene Estate and its history on the way.

Finally, It would be remiss to not mention Leith Hill and it’s fabulous views, and our active local ramblers group.

Get your boots on and explore Dorking!
