The BID was re-elected into place in 2022 and we are excited to support Dorking. Since then, we have collaborated with our community to host an ATCM award-nominated DorKing Coronation and a highly attended and well-received Dorkensian Christmas Festival, are providing business support and are raising the profile of the hidden gem of the Surrey Hills with our community partners.
We have also collaborated with Friends to Dorking and our community partners at ALDAG, the Men's Shed, and the United Reform Church to improve the look of our town by adding hanging baskets and pavement planters.

We have hosted multiple successful events in town that attracted thousands of people to the town. This year, your BID team collaborated with over 40 community partners to host the DorKing Coronation. Thousands of people joined us on the day. The goal of the event was to shine a light on Dorking, and bring people together to create a legacy for the town, whether that’s supporting bricks and mortar high street businesses, collaborating with artists and other local businesses, to starting a new sustainable practice, or volunteering in the community.

Dorking Goes Digital
The previous BID team engaged a local communications team to raise the profile of the town via a multi-channel communications campaign. Together we also made three short films about Dorking:
Escape to Dorking
Our current digital strategy is designed to create a seamless experience for our customers, engaging our audience, and raising the profile of our beautiful market town. We are working with our business and community partners to share the heritage, culture and independent spirit of Dorking with the world. In addition to embracing digital channels to share our messages, we are also utilising loyalty-scheme technology via the award-winning LoyalFreeApp.
We have rebranded and launched our social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) and can be found at @hellodorking. We were also finalists in the 2019 ATCM place management awards and have also received Special Mention in the 2018 Great British High Street Awards in the Rising Star Digital category.
Together with our positive coverage in the media (The Telegraph, The Times, Timeout London, The Telegraph with Steve Drake, London Standard), we plan to launch a targeted campaign to attract yet more businesses to invest in and open independent shops Dorking.
Dorking is back 'In Bloom' once again!
Together with our community partners, the BID has filled planters around town with plants and thanks our businesses for their support.
Over 100 hanging baskets have been installed around the town on both lampposts and properties and over the coming weeks there will be additional displays added to the town for all to enjoy over the summer months.
