Details of our Street Closure

The event will require the High Street to remain closed to all vehicles from 12pm, which will require roads to close at the times below. Diversions will be in place to enable drivers to bypass the town during this period.

Roads to be closed under the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 are North Street, West Street and Dorking High Street from Pump Corner to Moores Road.

The closure will also affect all tributary roads leading on to the High Street from e.g. Pump Corner to Moores Road, namely Mill Road, Ansell Road, Wathen Road, Old London Road, Lyons Court, Dene Street, Paper Mews and Moores Road. Here are the complete details of our closure:

West Street Closure: 11:30-6pm (from Junction Road)

High Street Closure: 10-8pm

South Street Closure: Parking Bays Suspended - Beginning: 12am - 2nd December to 8pm - 3rd December

To facilitate this event advance notification signs will be erected warning road users to expect potential delays and managed access for residents will be put in place by event stewards. For example, Mill Lane is closed due to the road closure but vehicles can depart from Mill Lane to Ansell Road should they want to leave the footprint during the day.

Items to note:
Can I re-enter Mill Lane once I leave during the event?

Vehicles can leave the footprint via Mill Lane and residents can park at their own residences and still use their own vehicle during the day. Should they return prior to the end of the event they would need to park in a public car park until they can then access Mill Lane after the event ends.

How do I access Waitrose Car Park during the event?

Traffic can enter the Waitrose car park from from both the junctions of West Street and South Street, however traffic can only exit the car park and turn towards South Street. Traffic will not be allowed to turn towards West Street due to the traffic entering from West Street.

Car parks will be accessible and public parking is free on Sundays. Dorking is also served by three train stations.

Any other questions? Just contact us at info@dorkingtownpartnership.co.uk and we will be very happy to help.
